REE’s or rare earth elements are critical for technology but they may not be particularly rare but are difficult to find in quantities viable to mine, researchers are compiling REE spectral database so they will be able to recognise these elements from aircraft and satellite data, in particular the planned German EnMAP mapping satellite project.
