In June 1997 it was announced that the first dinosaur eggshells ever to be found in the British Isles had been unearthed in Dorset. Excavations also revealed a tiny limb bone, possible from a dinosaur embryo or hatchling.

The eggshell and bone dated from the Cretaceous period, around 140 million years ago.
